Play reading, poetry and wine evening

New Experience

We will enjoy the act of reading together through interesting and engaging plays that allow us to build confidence in reading and have fun with a little bit of acting. We will start off reading through but build up our ability and energy and will also partake in reading requiring movement. We will have wine and tea to give a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere, and will pause half way through to construct a poem from the perspective of the character you have read for. And finish off the session with a read through including movement and interactive gestures. We will attend the session and read the play, alternating characters each session to give diversity of acting and interest to the roles. There will be the option for tea or wine with cake (provided by the venue) We will read for 45 mins seated, warming up into the roles, trying to add some emotion to the reading We then have a 15 minute break for refreshment, for chatting about anything, our weekends, our plans etc. We will then have 20 minutes to write a poem/ journal entry, from the perspective of the character we played reflecting the scenario they were just in. The last 40 minutes, we will continue to read through, but now we will include movement, i.e. we will be stood up and can include subtle actions and blocking to bring what we are reading to life. This doesn’t need to be regimented, but can be interpreted however the participants like. We will finish up and place markers where we left off
